Public Sector Consulting: Program Management, Process Improvement and Evaluation

For the Defense Health Agency, a newly established federal organization in 2013, SCP gathered requirements to in turn develop execution plans to best position the DHA in its journey to become a highly reliable organization. This effort was required by the Secretary of Defense to improve the Military Health System’s (MHS) access to medical care, quality of health care and to create a culture of safety for the over 9.4M beneficiaries of the MHS’s TRICARE health plan around the world. SCP successfully advised, and continues to support, the organization on the development of resource plans, acquisition management and program evaluation.

In support of the Department of the Army’s exports and cooperation mission, SCP is subcontracting to Censeo Consulting. Together Censeo and SCP will improve procurement processes and make recommendations to improve process cycle time, customer experience, strengthen process enablers and embed efficiency into operations.

 

 

Commercial Consulting: Business Process Re-engineering

In partnership with Hilton Associates, SCP documented use case scenarios for over 57 processes for an American multinational banking and financial services holding company. By placing an emphasis on the users’ experience, SCP designed process documentation that identified process efficiencies for the marketing and legal and compliance functions.

SCP served as a consultant and facilitator for a Silicon Valley-based technology company specializing in data and storage networking products. SCP developed prototypes of new processes to support new initiatives identified by the Chief Marketing Officer. SCP designed cross functional integrated processes, templates, tools and taxonomy, developed a governance operating model, and worked with the Business Unit leads to determine customer mobilization strategies and decision rights for the CMO’s teams.

 


Amplifying social innovation in communities and institutions

 

Training Design and Delivery: Delivering Outcomes for Communities

SCP along with the Partnership for Public Service and the Obama Administration’s Community Solutions Team collaborated with more than 20 federal agencies to create a new training program for federal employees who work directly with local governments, nonprofits and businesses tackling issues such as economic development, education, transportation and public health. SCP was engaged to serve as the curriculum design lead to develop the training. The training has been offered to over 400 participants to enhance their knowledge and skills to more effectively support communities. The success of the 2016 training has led to the design of future trainings scheduled for 2017. To continue to advance successes in the nation’s communities, the Partnership for Public Service received a grant from the Kresge Foundation to improve the capacity of federal agencies by equipping federal workers with enhanced skills to catalyze community revitalization. SCP leads the grant which will result in tailored capacity-building and assistance activities in select Promise Zone communities. The work will improve federal and local leaders’ ability to strengthen communities and evaluate the impact of their efforts. By improving federal effectiveness in community-based work, impoverished communities across America have a better chance to see the local transformations they have been working toward.
 



Activating the creative economy through partnerships and strategy

 

Organizational Development: Strategic Planning and Board Governance

In order to leverage CulturalDC’s legacy as an advocate for artists in Washington, DC, SCP was engaged to provide strategic planning support to CulturalDC. Each year CulturalDC serves over 1,000 artists and arts groups and 30,000 audience members through the activation of art space and presentation of contemporary visual and performing arts in nontraditional venues in DC.
 

 

Startup Advisor

SCP was selected as a participant in Winston Salem’s Center for Creative Economy’s Creative Startups Accelerator due to its role as an advisor to a Winston-Salem-based startup. Creative Startups’ Accelerator is designed for creatives using creative technologies and meeting new and growing market opportunities. The Accelerator’s curriculum was offered over 10 weeks and was built in partnership with Creative Startups by leading entrepreneurship faculty of Stanford University. SCP was thrilled to support the Feeling Friends’ accomplishment of a 2nd place honor in the final competition.
 

 

Organization Development: Strategic Planning and Advancement Strategy

SCP served as a strategy consultant for Reston, Virginia-based nonprofit Washington West Film Festival. The team’s role included support in the areas of development, marketing, operations and overall strategic advancement. All of Washington West’s box office net proceeds are given each year to projects committed to alleviating hunger, illness, displacement, or poor education around the world.
