This Thrive article is one I’ve visited many times since it was released last month. It reminds me to focus on employee well-being and continue to find ways to rest myself. Our last monthly all-company gathering led to the discussion about taking time off. While we can’t travel as we would like, we all need to still find time to rest and restore ourselves and respect the time off others take. I know I can’t wait to take time off next month and take some much needed time away from any and all screens.
I recently attended a workshop that allowed me to learn more about trauma-informed leadership. While I’m aware of the neuroscience behind leadership and managing others, it was another opportunity for me to take a different lens when I work with others. One example recently in coaching sessions I’ve focused more on process instead of placing a major emphasis on results only. When individuals share with me the toxic environments they must work in, our conversations change to what can the individual control and influence. We discuss what steps can be followed to achieve a personal goal instead of adding more pressure to an individual by way of suggesting quantitative metrics or what can be perceived as difficult results to execute.
I’m continuing to focus on joy, especially Black joy. This is a commitment that extends beyond Black History Month. HERE is an article to keep you inspired.
